Casual Sex Dating – Is It For You

If you’re considering a venture into the world of casual sex, you may be wondering if it’s right for you. Well there’s no one who can give you a better answer to that than yourself. You know you best. If you’re the type to be emotionally attached to others fairly easy, casual sex probably isn’t a good idea. If you’re the type to live from moment to moment and not consider much else, casual sex is probably what you’re already doing.

There are, of course, rough guidelines that you can use to decide if casual sex is right for you.

1. Reasoning – Examine what your reason is for wanting a casual sex experience. Are you looking to get over your last relationship? Are you trying to make someone jealous? Or are you genuinely interested in having a good time? Casual sex isn’t going to be any fun if you have hidden motives. But, if all you’re looking for is a good time, then you’re doing it for the right reasons.

2. Partner – There are many things you’re going to want to consider when deciding who to act with. If you’re interested in hooking up with a friend, you’re going to want to consider the change in the relationship afterwards. While it’s nice to think there won’t be one, there almost always is. The same could be said if you’re hooking up with a coworker. Or even a friend of a friend. If you’re looking online, or thinking of someone random, you don’t have to consider this as much. If you didn’t already know the person, there isn’t much that’s going to change. The one thing you don’t want to do, no matter what, is try casual sex with someone you like. It never ends well. Especially if the person you like is solely interested in casual sex with other people. You’re only going to end up hurt. You’re also likely to ruin any further development.

3. Communication – If you’re the type of person who is shy to sexual conversations, you’ll need to step outside of that. So, you’ve also got to ask yourself if you’ll be able to step outside that part of yourself. Casual sex relations require being up front. You have to talk about what is acceptable and what isn’t. Especially when it comes to sexual preferences. If you have to date someone a few times before approaching these types of topics, you’re better off looking for a real relationship. Most people who are into casual sex are really just looking to have fun with like minded people. If you’re not willing to express your likes and dislikes to strangers, you won’t be able to find someone compatible to them.

Now, on a side note, there are the occasional casual sex relations that develop into relationships. It’s not impossible. Sometimes two people who were looking for casual encounters end up sparking a connection and wanting more from one another. Do not go into any casual sex experience with this thought in the back of your head. That circles back to whether or not you’re doing it for the right reasons. Casual means casual. There is no subtext in these types of hook ups.

Also, if you’re going to be enjoying casual sex, make sure you’re doing it safely. You want to follow basic dating rules of letting someone know where you’re going. You want to use protection, even if they say they’re clean. You can never be too safe.
